Tulsa's 'Tree Of Life' Honors Fatal DUI Victims
TULSA, Oklahoma - A new Christmas tree at Woodland Hills Mall has a very special meaning.
There are 101 presents underneath the Tree of Life.
They represent every innocent person killed by a drunk driver in Tulsa County this year.
"These people under the tree, they didn't have a choice,” Lt. Erik Smoot said. “These people, their families, are going to sit at home this Christmas and there is going to be a chair with no one sitting in it. That present that never gets opened, because somebody made the choice to drink and drive."
The tree will stay up through New Year's Day.
They urge who plan to drink over the holidays to get a safe ride home.
