Police officers in Durant passed out presents instead of tickets to dozens of drivers this week.

The officers pulled over people with defective tail lights, squeaky brakes and cracked windshields.

Drivers were expecting a ticket, but they were given a gift bag instead.

The idea was to spread a little holiday cheer.

"Our officers dug into their [own] pockets and provided enough money to round out a complete Christmas dinner,” Durant Police Chief David Houser.

The Choctaw Nation donated the hams for the gift bags.
