A Cleveland police officer is recovering after a serious crash on Highway 48 Friday night. Officer Jeremiah Godfrey was airlifted to a Tulsa hospital after the multi-vehicle wreck.
Cleveland Police Chief Clint Stout said Godfrey has several fractures to the upper body, including some to his face.
Stout expressed his gratitude for how many people are concerned for the officer. Godfrey was an area medic before entering his current rookie year at CPD.

Trooper Robert Regnier said Godfrey was eastbound on the highway in a city patrol vehicle when he failed to yield to southbound traffic on Highway 64. He remains hospitalized, and we will update this story with additional information as it is learned.
The Cleveland American reports they have been getting messages from people asking how they can help Godfrey and his family. They are members of the Terlton Baptist Church, so it is suggested you contact the church for more information on assistance.
Godfrey was featured in a NewsOn6.com story in May when he lent assistance to an elderly couple.
