Tulsa Fire Museum, Other Projects Don't Make Vision 2025 Cut

Not all the proposals for Vision 2025 funds will make it into the official package presented to voters in April. The people behind some of those pitches need a new way to make them happen without Vision funds.

Debbie Bailey has a lot of plans for the Tulsa Fire Museum. The museum board made a proposal for vision 2025 money - $2 million for a new building to display vintage fire trucks, and a little more than $200,000 for some street improvements.

"It looks like the Vision money won't be part of those funds to make this the place we wanted it to be so quickly," Bailey said.

On Friday, city staff spent hours going through the proposals and came up with a draft vision package. It didn't include the fire museum.

"You have to open every door that is put in front of you, and that's what we did with Vision 2025 and so we keep moving forward.  It's all positive," said Debbie Bailey of the Tulsa Fire Museum.

Councilors also aren't sure if or where the BikeShare will fit in as far as Vision funds. The Tulsa Tough organization recently paired with the fledgling program - telling News On 6 it is disappointed BikeShare may not be a fit for Vision funds - but at least it got the community talking about the need for alternative transportation.

Some other pitches that didn't make the draft proposal:

• A Tulsa Tough Bike Park on Turkey Mountain.
• Tulsa Rugby Football Club's clubhouse
• Spotlight Theatre rehabilitation

Even without vision money - the Tulsa Fire Museum is already halfway towards its fundraising goal - and set to open in 2016.

"We will have a lot for Tulsa to enjoy," Bailey said.

The same group of city leaders is set to meet  first week of January to finalize the package.
