ME Confirms Pawhuska Oilman Was Murdered
PAWHUSKA, Oklahoma - The state Medical Examiner's office confirms Pawhuska oilman and rancher Rick Holt was murdered.
Holt, 46, disappeared in early September of 2015.
Osage County deputies found a body believed to be Holt's in a shallow grave on property just south of Wynona a few days later.
According to the autopsy report from the ME, Holt's body had multiple shotgun wounds and had been burned.
Two Pawhuska-area brothers – Jeremy Reece and Tyler Reece – are being held without bond in his death.
Court documents say Jeremy Reece, 31, told authorities he and his brother buried Holt on Holt family property.
According to the arrest warrant for 18-year-old Tyler Reece, investigators believe Tyler was recruited by his older brother Jeremy to confront Holt about a romantic relationship Holt was having with Jeremy’s ex-wife.
Each brother is charged with first-degree murder.
