Tuesday, EMSA honored a 13-year-old boy for being an "Everyday Hero."
Wesley Spohn was in the car with his dad late last month when his dad started having chest pains then passed out.
Wesley managed to get the car pulled over and stopped along Highway 75, then called 911.
He not only got his dad the help he needed, but avoided a dangerous situation for himself and other drivers.
"It was kind of scary at first, and I'm realizing everything that happened and everything like that, and starting to - what I did and everything - kinda makes me feel good," he said.
Wesley’s father, Jason, said, "It makes me proud to know, you know, that he kept his cool and done what he had to do."
This is EMSA's first "Everyday Hero" award of 2016.
