Owasso and supporting fire departments quickly controlled a large, fast-moving grass fire just south of Bailey Medical Center.

The fire threatened numerous structures in the area of 106th Street North and Garnett.

The fire jumped 106 Street North and damaged part of the Sportsplex, Owassoisms reports. Owasso Police closed off that area as of 3:11 p.m.

The fire spread to parts of the Owasso Golf and Athletic Club behind the Greens Apartments at 86th and 129th. Limestone, Turley, Tulsa and Collinsville Fire assisted Owasso.

The fire blanketed Owasso with heavy smoke. The City of Owasso posted the following notice on its Facebook page:

Fire crews are quite busy this afternoon battling grass fires that are being fueled by high winds and dry conditions. Please stay away from areas emergency crews are working to bring these fires under control.
