The winds will be decreasing speed later this morning as a weak cold front is entering the region.   The winds will change direction several times during the next 36 hours before finally becoming out of the north to northeast Saturday evening.   Cooler air will arrive Sunday with a chance for a few showers or even a rumble of thunder.  The thunder chances will remain to our south across southeastern OK.   Cooler air will remain for a few days next week.   Another fast moving wave will brush the state Tuesday with a slight chance for some light showers.   Highs today will be in the mid to upper 70s along with some sunshine and a few clouds.

The winds yesterday gusted from 40 to 50 mph across a large portion of the state including northeastern OK.   The fire danger was manifested by several large fires that created hazy conditions across the eastern portions of the state.   The fire danger will remain high this morning and elevated today due to on-going fire operations.

Winds will start from the southwest this morning before changing to the northwest by midday.   By the late afternoon the winds will again chance back from the south or southwest.   Wind speeds will be brisk for a few hours this morning but should drop to near 10 mph by midday to afternoon.   Saturday morning south to southeast winds will change to the north and northeast by late in the afternoon as the front finally moves southward.  We anticipate mostly cloudy conditions Saturday with highs in the lower to mid-70s.   While a few small areas of showers or drizzle may be possible Saturday across eastern OK, this chance remains very low.   Sunday our probability will remain near 20% for the metro with higher chances across far southern and eastern OK.   Temperatures Sunday should drop into the mid-60s with north winds.   Monday lows in the 40s will be followed by highs near 60.

Tuesday a system will be nearing the region with lows in the 30s and highs in the lower 50s along with north winds.

Thanks for reading the Friday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a safe day.
