Jenks Educator Finalist For National Assistant Principal Of The Year

A Jenks educator is headed to Florida as one of three finalists nominated for National Assistant Principal of the Year.

"I am getting to go to Epcot. They are going to show me part of the behind the scenes stuff at Epcot as part of the journey," said Jenks High School assistant principal, David Beiler.

The National Association of Secondary School Principals is recognizing an assistant principal of the year. Beiler is representing Oklahoma, and next week he may be named the National Assistant Principal.

He's head of the math department and leads the activities related to Science, Technology Engineering and Math.

"We have two teachers who came up with a new course called Forensic Science Data and Analysis," Beiler said.

He said it's like CSI in the classroom. Of course, he also does all the regular assistant principal to-do list.

"The work just comes through the door - whether its students who are crying out for a little structure and discipline, or, they actually have some kind of need,” he said.

Beiler will be in Florida next week where the association will announce the winner of the Assistant Principal of the Year award.
