A cool front moved through this morning and opened the door to cooler and drier air. Dew points were able to climb yesterday, but as the cold front swept in, dew points fell almost 30 degrees in three hours.

Hot spots are still out there, so this fall in dew points and a gusty north wind are not what we wanted right now. Conditions are not as bad as Thursday when wild fires burned all over Green Country, but we still need to be alert for this afternoon.

Maximum wind gusts through the afternoon should average between 20 and 25 mph from the north. This morning, Foraker (north-central Osage County) picked up a 30 mph gust.

Fires today could spread around 100 feet per minute or slightly higher. Tomorrow, our fire danger will not be as high. Conditions will remain dry but winds should not be as strong.

Rain finally moves into Green Country on Tuesday. Heavy rainfall will be possible with higher amounts across southeastern Oklahoma. Right now, we will take any moisture we can get!
