The potential for wildfires are high this weekend.  Fire departments across Green Country are on standby, ready to respond if fires break out.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Fire Warning for several counties in north central Oklahoma until 7 p.m.

Weather Alerts

The Owasso Fire Department like a number of other departments have placed firefighters on standby in case they have a fire outbreak like we experienced slightly over a week ago.

Owasso Fire Battalion Chief Jamey Nichols with the current weather conditions, the potential is there for more wildfires and they want to be prepared.

One Rogers County fire department assisted by Collinsville Rural Fire knocked down a fire near Oologah Saturday morning.

The Northwest Fire Protection District officials said the fire was near the Hickory Creek Mobile Home Addition.  No homes or injuries were reported.

The city of Owasso, like the city of Tulsa is currently not allowing any outdoor burning.

The Red Flag Fire Warning includes Kay, Noble, Osage, Pawnee and Washington counties.
