A student was taken to the hospital for an injury he received while doing carpentry at a Tulsa Technology Center campus. It happened Thursday morning at the Lemley campus near 31st and Memorial.

TTC public information officer Tony Heaberlin said the carpentry student was nailing something when the nail broke off. A piece flew up under the student's safety goggles, Heaberlin said.

The nail did not penetrate the eye but hit hard enough to damage blood vessels in the eye, Heaberlin said. EMSA transported the student as a precaution, but he's expected to be fine, the PIO said.
