Alexander Brothers Quest For The NFL
TULSA, Oklahoma - From the time they were young, brothers Dom and Derrick Alexander always pushed each other to get better.
Now they're pushing each other to get to the NFL.
"It's just an exciting time, getting close to your dream and you're just right there," said Derrick.
Dom, a linebacker at OU, has an inside track after being invited to the NFL combine. He says not seeing his son through the process has been tough, but it's been rewarding.
"Everything is a process,” said Dom. When it comes to the 40, when it comes to the combine, to the pro day, everything is just a process. You just got to love it, each and every day. it's a grind."
They both worked out together in California, and since Derrick, a defensive end at TU, didn't go to the combine, Thursday’s Pro Day at TU was important.
"I went out there and hit all the numbers I was supposed to hit, as far as when I was training,” said Derrick. “A couple of scouts came up to me and told me they like what they saw. Yeah, I would like to get invited to the combine and all that, but I have no problem working. I think my tape shows that I'm a player."
Now they transition from competing against each other like they did in college one year at TU to competing against each other to help each other get into the NFL.
“I know he's hard working [and] he knows I'm a hard worker, so anytime we get together we just push each other," explained Derrick. “It's a great feeling, watching him do his thing and be successful and then come over here and try to do my thing."
And Dom believes in his brother.
"I'm very excited, because like I tell people, all he needs is the attention. He can do everything that everybody else does," he said.
