Man Aiming At Brother Stabs 14-Month-Old Nephew Instead, Tulsa Police Say

A Tulsa man is in jail after he reportedly stabbed a 14-month-old boy in the back during a fight early Friday.

Police said the stabbing occurred at about midnight at an apartment complex in the 5600 block of South Peoria.

Officers said Evan Gaines, 22, had been drinking when he got into a fight with his brother who was holding the boy. According to the police report, Gaines threw a knife at his brother which struck his young nephew in the back.

EMSA took the boy to the hospital. There is no word on his condition.

Police booked Gaines into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of child endangerment and assault with a deadly weapon. Jail records show Evan Gaines is being held on a $25,000 bond.
