Muskogee has a new place to prepare young people for the future. Monday, they cut the ribbon on the new Martin Luther King Center.
The new building is going to provide much-needed classroom and event space for after-school and summer programs for children.
They broke ground on the new $4.5 million MLK Center just over a year ago. It's the only MLK Center of its kind in the state.

The center outgrew its old building as the demand increased for tutoring, mentoring and activities.
The building was funded through the Muskogee Foundation, Community Improvement Funds and private donations.
The center's director, Derrick Reed, is happy this day came.
"It's so exciting, it's so exciting that we made it to this point; all the time we've been talking about making the dream come true, today the dream is a reality," Reed said.
The old building will be destroyed for new ball fields.
