Two weeks from Tuesday, Tulsa voters will decide if the Vision Tulsa plan moves forward.

Right now, city councilors are trying to get to all voters, with town halls everywhere from bars to churches, as there are still a lot of unanswered questions.

It was a relaxed environment Monday evening as Councilor Blake Ewing gave people the chance to better understand what they will be voting on come April 5th.

“It doesn't do anyone any good if elected people come up with an idea and just throw it out there without anyone talking about it,” he said.

One topic that came up early on was the BMX Olympic training facility.

"I believe a regional Olympic training facility is a big deal," one person said.

Ewing said, "Having the Olympic seal on our city’s name is pretty cool, even if no one goes to a BMX event, we will feel the impact of having it."

Center of the Universe transit hub, proposed by Ewing, also came up. Many feel the funding for that will transform downtown Tulsa; but there is some confusion over the project.

The first phase of funding - around $14 million - would go towards infrastructure like parking garages, and be a catalyst towards the possible final product.

Then, Tulsa developer, Pete Patel, brought up the problem of voter education on the issues.

"We are two weeks out and I still haven't seen a message on vote yes - vote yes on proposition one, two, three,” he said.

We’re told new, more detailed ads will roll out in the next week. There are even discussions of handing out sample ballots so people will have an idea of exactly what to expect April 5th.
