Jenks, Mannford Students Win Serious Prizes For Film-Making Skills

Several high school students from Jenks and Mannford earned some serious prizes for their film-making skills. Representatives from C-SPAN's national 2016 StudentCam competition came to Green Country to present the awards.

Almost 6,000 students from around the world created documentaries in the competition.

Mannford high school juniors, Beecher Owens and Tyler Cauley, received a third place prize of $750 each for their documentary on job creation.

Jenks high school had six winners, including the grand prize.

Sophomore Olivia Hurd received $5,000 for her documentary on federal debt called, "Up to our Necks."

That documentary will air on C-SPAN on April 29th.
