Riding out of a tornado in fear and then going home to a neighborhood it destroyed are moments that continue to play out in Mandy Green's mind.

“It’s just an overwhelming feeling,” said Green. “It still doesn't feel real, just a lot of emotion."

Her house still stands minus a little damage and missing shingles. It's her neighbor she feels the most sympathy for.

"Compared to my neighbors and some houses down the road, I'm lucky," Green stated.

She says her neighbors had a hunch that things would get bad, so they left before the tornado touched down.

The tornado's path somehow slipped right by her house, hitting another.

"Very very blessed that we made it through and they weren't home, and we were safe," said Green.

Green says all morning and afternoon, random people have shown up to pick up debris and chop up fallen trees.

With so much still left, it's hard to tell if there's been any progress. But based off the kindness of others, she's hopeful.

“The amount of people you've seen that have come out just to check on people and help without even asking for it [is nice]," added Green.
