Parents Arrested After Naked Child Found Outside Tulsa Home
TULSA, Oklahoma - Police arrested the parents after a three- to four-year-old boy was found running naked outside a Tulsa home Sunday morning.
Officers were called to the 9300 block of East 48th Street at 10:15 a.m.
After canvassing the neighborhood, police located the boy's home and went inside to talk with his parents. Police identified them as Courtney Douthitt, 19, and Sterling Burgess, 25. Police said they were asleep in a bedroom.
Police said they smelled marijuana and saw drug paraphernalia in reach of the child.
After contacting DHS, officers searched the home. Police found two marijuana plants in a bedroom closet as well as a 9 mm handgun, which was reported stolen, under a couch in the living room.
They booked Douthitt and Burgess into the Tulsa County jail on complaints including child neglect, cultivation of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and a firearm.
