Oklahoma's governor was on hand for a groundbreaking ceremony in Durant Friday for a new steel mill that will employ several hundred workers.

KXII, the CBS affiliate in Sherman, Texas reports Commercial Metals Company is building an advanced micro steel mill in the Bryan County community.  The company says the $250 million project will employ 200 to 250 workers and make 350,000 tons of steel per year when the plant opens in 2017.

CMC news release

"This groundbreaking represents how local, state and tribal partnerships can bring together various entities to achieve great things for the State of Oklahoma.  Not only will this mill produce high quality steel products that can be used by many Oklahoma industries, it will bring quality jobs to the Durant area, providing great opportunities for Oklahomans and further diversifying our economy,” said Governor Mary Fallin.

CMC has two facilities in Tulsa.  A construction services facility and a recycling facility.
