Firefighters responded to a fully involved house fire Sunday afternoon. Crews said the damage to the home was extensive and likely a total loss.

According to Assistant Chief Stacy Belk, firefighters received a call of smoke in a house near 101st and Sheridan. They also said they had a report there may have been a child in the house.

When crews arrived, they entered the home and quickly gave it an all clear.

Firefighters said the fire had already gone through the roof and that it started to cave in. Belk said crews were pulled out and put on the defensive in order to contain the fire.

Once flames were manageable, crews went back in to manage hot spots.

Belk said the arson investigator was looking into what caused the fire, but due to the amount of damage it may take a while. First reports say most of the fire started in the upper portion of the home.

Crews said the homeowner wasn't home at the time of the fire, but the homeowner's kids were outside when they saw the smoke and called it in.

No injuries have been reported.

Belk said crews will likely continue to keep an eye on the home throughout the night to monitor any lingering hot spots.
