The transgender bathroom battle continues.
Senator James Lankford will lead a hearing on the issue. He wants to examine President Obama's directive.
President Obama handed down that directive last month. He told all public schools that transgender students should be allowed to use the bathroom for the gender they identify with. If not, federal funds will be cut.
Almost immediately, Senator Lankford fired back, saying the directive is, “Another part of a pattern of federal overreach and bullying of schools.”
The President has defended his actions. He cites Title Nine which protects against discrimination in education based on sex, and said, “Our obligations are we should try to accommodate these kids so that they are not in a vulnerable situation.”
The hearing was scheduled to take place at 9:45 a.m. Thursday. However, it has been postponed to a yet-to-be-determined date.
