An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect until 8 p.m. for Tulsa and neighboring counties.

A dangerous combination of high temperatures and high levels of moisture in the air is allowing heat index values to climb to the 110 degree to 115 degree range. This is very dangerous, especially for children, the elderly and those working outdoors.  Drinking an abundance of water and staying out of direct sunlight is key to being safe during the hottest hours of the day.

Weather Alerts

A Heat Advisory is posted for everywhere else through Thursday evening for heat index values up to 110 degrees.  This might be extended into the end of the week with little relief in sight.

In addition to the heat danger, isolated strong to severe thunderstorms may form in the afternoon and early evening hours in northeast Oklahoma or southeast Kansas.

The chance is very low for thunderstorms overall, but any storms that do form could cause large hail or locally damaging winds.  Beyond Wednesday, rain chances are slim to none into at least early next week.
