Police are looking for a man who punched a Tulsa Walmart employee in the face Monday night.

Officers said the man was leaving the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 31st and Garnett Road at around 11 p.m. A store greeter asked to see a receipt and shoplifter punched the employee in the head several times.

Several people inside the store chased the man off.

Officer said the attack caught everyone off guard.

"You know, you think...this individual's at work. Who goes to work thinking, 'I'm gonna get beat up tonight.' Probably very few people will think that," Officer Leland Ashley said.

Witnesses told police the man ran toward a nearby apartment complex.

The store employee was treated by EMSA paramedics, but not taken to the hospital. Police say the greeter will be okay.
