The number of mosquitos found with West Nile Virus in Tulsa County continues to climb.
The health department says as of June 17th, 16 of its trap samples have tested positive for WNV. When the testing began in May, their first report showed only seven of their traps had positive West Nile Virus samples.
The department has an active program to track and treated areas for the West Nile Virus. It says it has surveyed and treated for mosquitoes across 55 square miles of Tulsa County.

Those mosquito traps are set up at numerous locations and samples are collected and tested weekly for the presence of West Nile Virus.
So far in 2016, the state Health Department reports only one person has contracted West Nile Virus and that case was in Pittsburg County.
