Crews Respond To Multi-Vehicle Crash On I-35 In Norman

Emergency crews were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on the southbound side of Interstate 35, near State Highway 9 in Norman, Thursday morning.

A semi, a box truck and at least one other vehicle were involved in the crash on the Canadian River bridge, between the east and westbound highway 9 entrances. All of the vehicles involved caught fire as a result of the collision.

Authorities had to shut down all lanes of SB I-35 while crews work the scene. Traffic on that side of the highway is backed up for miles due to the crash. As of 3:30 p.m., police had two lanes of traffic open on SB I-35 and two lanes of traffic open on the northbound side. But the area remains heavily congested due to ongoing cleanup of the accident.

No one was injured in the crash, according to the Norman Fire Department. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
