One person is dead, and three officers on routine leave following an officer-involved shooting in Northwest Oklahoma City Friday evening. Investigators say they have dozens of witnesses and possibly surveillance video from the scene

News 9 was told the man shot and killed by an Oklahoma City Police Officer was armed with an unknown object as he fought for her gun. Despite initial reports, no officers were injured in the shooting.

The crime spree spans about a mile and a half, starting in Midtown at 11th and Walker. Just before 5:00 p.m., officers arrived at that intersection after receiving reports of someone breaking into a car.

“The suspect got into a car, it wasn't his car apparently just jumped in and said drive,” said Captain Paco Balderrama, OCPD.

The driver spotted an officer parked at a bank near the Gold Dome shortly after the carjacking and flagged her down.

Investigators say at the same time, the suspect took off running and hopped on a city bus.

The female officer then followed the man on to the bus.

Leroy Brown, who was selling watermelons at the corner of NW 23rd and Classen, watched it all unfold in front of his stand.

“We we're just sitting here selling watermelons and all the sudden we seen that bus over there and all them cop cars are over there just swarmed it and they came out and we jumped out and we heard pop, pop, pop, pop, pop,” said Leroy Brown.

“The suspect at some point tried to take the officer’s gun away. The female officer fought with the suspect until the backup officer got there,” said Captain Balderrama.

It's still unclear which officer fired the fatal shot, killing the suspect on the Embark bus.

That will be one of many details investigators sort out with help from multiple witnesses on the bus and at the intersection.

The identity of the suspect and three officers on routine leave have not been released.
