Our forecast remains mostly unchanged and the morning forecast update will remain brief.

The pattern will remain with a ridge of high pressure centered over the state in the short term with hot and humid conditions persisting for the rest of the week. A few widely spaced showers and storms will again be possible across far eastern and southern OK this afternoon but this activity should remain too far east of the metro for any impact.

A heat advisory will be in effect for most of northeastern OK this afternoon into the early evening hours.  A minor pattern change is possible by late this weekend into early next week that may bring a few storms near Tulsa along with some slightly not as hot air.  There’s also a hint of an easterly wave approaching the eastern third of the state around Tuesday of next week.

At this point, we’re only keeping low pops across the board for Sunday through Tuesday but some higher chances may be released in subsequent forecast update cycles.

Weather Alerts

Temperatures this morning will remain in the upper 70s and lower 80s with muggy conditions. Daytime highs will move into the mid and upper 90s today along with south winds at 10 to 15 mph. The heat index values today will be near 107.

Slightly drier air will remain for the rest of the week during the afternoon hours for the metro and this will bring the humidity down slightly and allow the daytime highs to reach near 100 Thursday through Saturday.    A small area of moisture may sneak up into southeastern OK Friday with a slightly higher coverage of late day pops.

Temps this weekend will be toasty with lows around 80 and highs near 100.

Monday into early next week the lows will drop into the mid-70s.  The highs will range from the mid-90s with a few storms nearing northern and eastern OK through Tuesday.
