Burglars Target Broken Arrow Neighborhoods
BROKEN ARROW - Burglars are targeting Broken Arrow homeowners in the area around 71st and Garnett.
At least half a dozen people have reported car burglaries to police, but neighbors say they know there's even more.
A surveillance video was rolling as a man looked in the center console, back seat and glove box for anything of value.
He spent almost a minute inside before moving on.
"It was pretty scary because I wasn't home,” said burglary victim Diego Sanchez. “My parents were home and they could have broken into the house."
If you look near the time code at the top of the video, at 3:51 a.m., you can see a group of people walking and then they take off running in opposite directions.
One ran into Sanchez's drive-way.
"He just walked straight in, he didn't even look up,” said Sanchez. “He didn't even have a shirt on, just walked into the car."
The man took a flashlight and almost empty cologne bottle.
Even though he didn't steal anything of value, Sanchez says the group likely got more from some of his neighbor's houses.
"They were all running, all around the neighborhood,” explained Sanchez.
Sanchez set up the surveillance cameras two months ago.
Although it didn't keep someone from targeting his home, he hopes this footage leads to an arrest.
"They should just get a job, or get a life,” Sanchez stated. “If you are just going to steal, it's annoying and they need to grow up."
He believes the group parked a vehicle somewhere nearby.
He urges all his neighbors to be on high alert.
"Be careful,” Sanchez advised. “Lock your doors, because if they break into your house that could be life threatening."
Police say there were a number of car burglaries last night in a neighborhood a mile away from where Sanchez was burglarized.
At this point, police aren't sure if they are related.
