A cut fiber affected 911 service to several towns in Oklahoma on Wednesday. Enid and Cushing are two of the towns reporting the outage.

AT&T is investigating the issue, according to a spokesperson for the company.

"911 service is running normally following a power issue that temporarily affected some calls Wednesday morning in Enid, Shawnee and some other area emergency call centers," a company spokesperson said. "Affected centers rerouted calls and technicians quickly resolved the problem after isolating the power issue. We place the highest priority on the safety of our customers and the communities we serve. We apologize for this disruption in service."

Cushing police said AT&T service is down to the city Wednesday. The outage is city-wide and includes city hall and other city services, according to a news release.

Enid police issued a statement saying the outage was caused by a power surge and major fiber line cut in the Oklahoma City area.

Enid police say the system allows for these kinds of adjustments. Dispatchers can still receive calls that come in on the 911 lines and will transfer them to the appropriate response agencies as needed.

" We are still investigating the root cause that was related to a power issue in a facility in the Oklahoma City area," the spokesperson said. "Call routing was affected for approximately two hours with the issue beginning shortly after 10 am and service being restored by 12:15 p.m."
