CREEK COUNTY, Oklahoma - The search has resumed in Creek County for a young man who went missing in the woods while out with friends near Silver City. Authorities are searching for David Lane Howard.

They have set up a command post at the fire department in Silver City.

Deputies released pictures of Howard, hoping someone has seen him. They say he was in Silver City swimming with friends Sunday between 10:30 a.m. and noon. He then became separated from his friends while on a trail and hasn't been seen since.

A news release initially said he is 18, but family members tell News On 6 Howard is 19 years old.

The sheriff's office describes him as 5'8" inches tall with brown hair and a skull tattoo on his leg.

Several other agencies have been called out to help, including the U.S. Marshalls Office and the Silver City Fire Department. The Oklahoma Department of Corrections has brought out a K-9 unit to assist. Because of the extreme heat, they are limiting the time each person is out on the search teams, according to Creek County Sheriff's Office.

On Tuesday, they are concentrating on a nearby creek, and they are asking people not to drive in that area due to safety concerns.

Deputies ask anyone with information to call the Creek County Sheriff’s Office at 918-224-4964.
