After a two vehicle injury collision, Highway 20 westbound lanes at 171st E. Ave have been reopened.

The westbound lanes were closed while troopers directed traffic using a single lane on the eastbound side.

According to police, a 2011 Honda Accord driven by Dakota Sunday, 21, was traveling eastbound while a 2013 Ford F150 with an empty horse trailer, driven by Bobby Maloy, 55, was traveling westbound. When Sunday failed to yield while attempting to turn northbound onto 171st E. Ave, he was hit on the passenger’s side by Maloy.

Police stated Sunday was the only person in his vehicle and Maloy had a passenger, Marshall Robertson, 71, who was not injured.

Both Sunday and Maloy were transported to hospitals.

Sunday was admitted to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition with head, trunk internal, trunk external, arm, and leg injuries.

Maloy was admitted to St. John Hospital also in critical condition with head, trunk internal, trunk external, arm, and leg injuries.
