Shoppers Enjoy Oklahoma's Tax-Free Weekend

For some, tax-free weekend has been a long time coming.

Thirteen-year-old Ansley Kirkendoll came all the way from Arkansas. She says she needs “a bunch of stuff” for school. She's with her mom visiting family and going after those savings.

"[We’re going to] visit some stores that we don't have in our hometown," said Tanya Kirkendoll.

Ansley added, “It's more of like want… I was wanting jeans, and I got converse."

No complaints from Ansley.

"I like that design, and then she put this triangle thing back here," she said.

And there certainly wasn’t any complaint from her mom who loved not paying tax.

"It makes me feel good," said Tanya.

Signs all over Woodland Hills Mall advertise the stores that have products qualifying for the tax-free program.

"It has been crazy,” said Woodland Hills spokesperson Eileen Neighbors. “We have had a ton of people; you can see just looking around. It's been a great weekend."

And it was a great day for the Miller's out on their adorable daddy-daughter date.

“It's pretty cool,” said Mia Miller. “He's pretty cool."

Hernan Miller of Broken Arrow says it's a win, win that he can buy needed shoes for his daughter to head back to school and save a little cash.

"Well, I think it's great,” he said. “They should do it a little more often."

The Mall has extended hours this weekend. Sunday it will open at 11 a.m. And mall staff says it will have extra security on hand to keep people safe.
