The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority opened up a new toll plaza on the Indian Nations Turnpike Tuesday.

The new plaza is almost halfway between Henryetta and McAlester and replaces the original toll plaza underneath the bridge on Highway 9.

The OTA said as part of the project, new ramps were built for exiting and entering from Highway 9.

“This new plaza increases the safety for the traveling public and allows for faster, safer travel through the Pikepass lanes,” Executive Director of the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority Tim Gatz said.

“The new plaza also separates the cash customers from the high-speed Pikepass lanes, increasing safety for those needing to stop and pay cash.”

Construction crews are now removing the old toll plaza.
