The break from the heat will basically continue for the next 7 days even through we’ll experience a gradual increase in daytime highs near the metro Tuesday and Wednesday.   Morning lows in the mid to upper 60s are likely with highs in the mid to upper 80s today.

Thursday into the weekend yet another storm system will be influencing our weather with increasing rain and storm chances followed by another noticeable cool down next weekend.

The main weather feature of interest for the past few days has been a low pressure area to our southeast draped along a nearly stationary boundary positioned from southwestern Missouri into the ArkLaTex region. This low will slowly move into part of Arkansas and southern Missouri soon before ejecting northeast away from the state by Wednesday.

This morning a broad mid-level trough has developed and will slide across the state from the west to east.  This feature could produce a few showers or sprinkles this morning through midday but the chance appears very low.

Regardless, we’ll need to keep a low chance for a few showers across the eastern sections of the state with the highest chances across far southern and southeastern OK into western Arkansas. Clouds associated with this feature will stick around through midday with partial clearing from the west to east by 2pm to 3pm near the metro.

Thursday a weak disturbance may move from Texas into part of southern OK with increasing deep layer moisture supporting a few showers or storms Thursday morning to midday across southern OK and into northern OK by late Thursday night, including the Tulsa metro.

Friday into the weekend another major upper level trough will swing across the northern high plains and will force a strong cold front southward into the central plains. This front will more than likely cross our immediate area Friday night into Saturday with some rain and storm chances followed by a temperature drop into the lower or mid-80s for the weekend.

The threat of a few strong to severe storms will be possible by late in the week but the higher probability Friday may still reside to our north.

Thanks for reading the Monday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
