Former Delaware County Jail Employee Accused Of Sex With Inmate, Arrested

A former Delaware County jail employee accused of sexual misconduct with an inmate was arrested.

According to a news release, Christina Balcom turned herself in.

The release says an investigation revealed Balcom took a trustee inmate from a secured area for a work detail when they engaged in sexual activity.

Delaware County Sheriff, Harlan Moore, was made aware of the incident August 15th and issued the investigation after Balcom admitted to the offense, officials say.

The release says Balcom was arrested for second-degree rape. She later bonded out of jail.

The inmate is awaiting transfer to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections after agreeing to enter the DOC’s Drug Offender Work Camp for several drug-related offenses, the release says.

Balcom, according to the release, was employed with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office from December 2013 until August 2016.
