Tulsa Police Investigate After Body Found Near Mohawk Park
TULSA, Oklahoma - A badly decomposed body was found Sunday afternoon at 56th Street North near North Yale, police said.
Tulsa police have been on the scene at 56th Street North for nearly five hours.
Police said a man walking down the street noticed a terrible smell coming from the woods and he went to check it out.
Because of the body's condition, investigators can not tell for sure the sex or ethnicity of the person, but said it looks like the person has on a sports bra. The intense heat likely sped up the decomposition process, so investigators expect to face some challenges.
"It's a hard time for everyone when you deal with a deceased body like this," Tulsa police Sgt. Dedlorn Sanders said.
In the meantime, police are checking the missing person database. So far, nothing has come up.
