Broken Arrow Police Arrest 3 In Sting Operation
BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma - Broken Arrow Police arrested three people on Sunday after they set up an undercover meeting to purchase a radar detector they allegedly stole and then tried to sell on Craigslist.
According to the BAPD report, Chelsee Redding, Michael Moore and Mark Bryant stole a radar detector, laptop and a semi-automatic pistol from the victim’s vehicle on August 27, 2016.
The victim notified BAPD after he saw his radar detector for sale on Craigslist, an arrest report states. BAPD detectives contacted the seller via text message and arranged a meeting time on August 28 at 3 p.m. at the QuikTrip at 2400 N. Aspen Avenue in Broken Arrow.
At the meeting, detectives said they checked the serial number on the radar detector and found it was the same as the one stolen from the victim’s vehicle. The undercover detectives then notified officers to respond to make contact with the suspects.
Police said the three suspects were not only in possession of the radar detector, pistol and laptop but also another gun and a wallet with someone else's driver's license. Both guns had been entered as stolen with the National Crime Information Center, according to police.
“Other various items found inside were found inside the vehicle that detectives are still trying to connect to other burglaries. Also found in the vehicle was a stack of mail from various addresses that did not match any of the occupants of the vehicle,” according to the police report.
One of the men told officers that the three were all together when they broke into several vehicles, the report states. All three suspects were arrested and transported to the B.A. city jail without incident.
