An elderly couple lost everything, including their beloved pets when an early Tuesday morning fire destroyed their Creek County home near the Turner Turnpike and West 81st Street

"You got any kids? When you have a kid, let me know what it means to you," said Keith Scouten.

Scouten watched as the home he built 43 years ago, went up in smoke.  He says his two dogs were in the home at the time.  He yelled out their names but didn't get an answer.

"I never had no kids. They were mine and if crying would help, I would go cry. But I know crying won't help," said Keith Scouten.

Sapulpa firefighters tell us the fire started in the garage and spread to the rest of the home.

The house is a total loss.  Firefighters said there was no hydrant in the area so they had to bring in water.

"They carry about a thousand gallons each and each one of them made 3 or 4 trips so we used a lot of water on it," said  Sapulpa Fire Battalion Chief Kyle Zickefoose.

Keith and his wife Virginia were not home when the fire started.  He lost everything he owned, but that's not what he's focused on.

"Right now, that's all I really care about - the two little dogs. The house, it was just a place to sleep," said Keith Scouten.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
