Tulsa Police released the name of a shooting victim found in an SUV Sunday evening, September 11, 2016, in the 6100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Terrel D. Smith, 41, had been reported missing September 9. He was shot, and Tulsa County Sheriff's Office is investigating his death as a homicide.

The body had been there for some time, according to deputies on scene. Deputies weren't sure if he was killed at that location or if the body had been taken there. He was found in the passenger seat.

TCSO spokesperson Casey Roebuck said Smith borrowed the SUV from his girlfriend.

Deputies said a woman walking down the street noticed the car sitting back in the empty field behind a lot of trees. The woman told her son, who went to check it out and discovered the body.

Roebuck said she understands other law enforcement agencies have had interactions with Smith in the past.
