New Nowata Bakery Cooks Treats For Pets

A new bakery in Nowata is cooking up fresh treats - for pets. The Barking Cat opened in August at 121 North Pine Street. Partners Russ Hanigan, Dusty Hicks and Stacy Giefing took their love of animals and baking into a business.

Some of their items include PeaMutt butter biscuits, Elvis bones and PAWreos (made with a tapioca filling). There are dog biscuits baked with debittered brewers yeast they say naturally repels fleas.

They even make a hound dog cake for special occasions where people want to include their canine family members.

And they're not leaving out cats - there are treats for kitties too. In fact, they have a shop cat named Shopkins, named by their Facebook fans. 

Treats are made with all-natural ingredients that are even safe for human consumption.
