Protestors Call For Arrest Of Officer In Terence Crutcher Shooting

Hundreds of protesters rallied in front of Tulsa Police headquarters Tuesday evening, calling for the arrest of the officer who shot and killed Terence Crutcher.

The front steps of the Tulsa Police Department held the latest protest in the wake of Friday's police shooting. The energy was high, and so was the anger.

"There are gaps in the story...we are holding you accountable," the group said.

Tuesday night was a call by protesters for the arrest of Office Betty Shelby.

They said, "'Fire.' 'Betty.' 'Fire.' 'Betty.' That's right. Don't get it twisted."

Crowds spilled onto 6th Street and the balcony above.

"My soul hurts, my soul hurts, that's why I'm here. Justice; it's not right,” protestor Ardelia Jackson said. “You just don't shoot someone down unless your life was actually in jeopardy. Her life wasn't in jeopardy. We see that. We saw the tape. Everyone saw the tape."

Protestors wore shirts to support Crutcher's family.

John Ballard said, "This shirt speaks for itself. 'Hey, I'm not doing anything wrong my hands are up, don't shoot.'"

Tony: "What's resonating with you?"
Jeremiah Hale: "I think that recognition that we need to come together and work together as a community collectively and collaborate across racial lines as you see there are all races out here."

Shelby remains on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
