Rain With Cooler Air Set To Move Across Eastern Oklahoma

Warm weather again on Saturday, but it will be significantly cooler for the rest of the next week.

Highs near 90 Saturday afternoon with a maximum heat index near 96. Rain should hold off in Tulsa through most of the afternoon.  Showers that develop should stay west of the metro. Saturday afternoon showers and storms will break out across western Oklahoma where a cold front will be moving in.

Out ahead of that front, a few storms could develop in areas northwest of Tulsa. But late Saturday evening and overnight is when rain chances will increase across Green Country. 

Early Sunday morning, the cold front will start to move into eastern Oklahoma and we should see an uptick in showers and storms as the front moves through.  Heavy rain is expected Sunday morning and continuing into the afternoon. Areas north of I-44 will have the higher rainfall totals. Totals around 2” or more will be possible.

If storms move slow enough and start training, we could have some flooding concerns. Remember turn around, don’t drown. 

Rain chances will lessen by late afternoon Sunday but they will not completely leave the area. A few lingering showers will stay until late Sunday night.
Finally, cooler fall weather with highs in the mid-70s. Sunday night and Monday morning with any leftover showers located in far southeastern Oklahoma. 

We'll have dry air moving in so a cool start on Monday with lows in the 50s. Cool mornings will be the case all week long.  The afternoon highs should only reach into the low 70s with a crisp north wind.

There will be a slow increase in day time highs by the end of the week. Highs should be back above normal by the time the Tulsa State Fair kicks off on Thursday. The start of the state fair is looking dry for now.
