The City of Tulsa has canceled its Free Landfill Days due to street construction near the landfill and contractual issues, officials said Thursday in a news release.

The scheduled free landfill days were scheduled for October 8-9, 2016.

The City of Tulsa said it will resume the service in spring 2017, but in the meantime, it has expanded another one of its services to provide an alternative disposal option.

The Neighborhood Dumpster Program is a free service available to registered neighborhood associations to perform neighborhood clean-up activities.

Participating groups can make use of 30-yard containers to dispose of eligible household items.

The City of Tulsa said certain items cannot be placed in the dumpsters, including limbs and other tree debris, grass clippings, Freon-bearing appliances, car parts or tires, air conditioners, roofing materials, and whole buildings, sheds or garages.

Another service offered by the city is its Bulky Waste Pickup service, which allows residential refuse customers to arrange for special curbside pick-up of large/bulky items which are not collected with regular service.

This is a special service for the disposal of incidental household and related items such as furniture or appliances. There is a $10 collection fee, per eight cubic yards.

The city said its Tulsa’s Household Pollutant Facility is also open year-round and free for Tulsa residents to dispose of household pollutants.
