Something new is opening at the Woody Guthrie Center. It’s an exhibit honoring Kris Kristofferson, who is this year's recipient of the Woody Guthrie Prize.

There are so many really cool things in the exhibit that it's hard to know where to start - why not with one of his prized possessions.

Deana McCloud with the Woody Guthrie Center showed us one of Kristofferson’s guitars that was pretty special, “It's signed by Roger Miller, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin."

Kristofferson is a political activist, singer-songwriter, actor, Airborne Ranger, and a Rhodes Scholar. There is a little bit of all of that in the exhibit.

"How can you not talk about "A Star is Born," McCloud said.

That was his movie with Barbra Streisand - and his golden Globe award for Best Actor is in a display with Grammies, Gold Records and more.

There are playlists and song sheets, one of his Army uniforms, and information about that part of his life.

It's all there because he is the 2016 recipient of the Woody Guthrie Prize - someone who exemplifies the spirit and life’s work of Woody Guthrie.

If you are a fan now you'll love the exhibit. If not, one trip through and you may become one.

The exhibit opens to the public Wednesday and will be in Tulsa through early next year.
