Two houses are being built at the same time by Habitat for Humanity.

They're just a few yards away from each other, and today volunteers raised the walls of the nearly identical homes.

The volunteers put up enough walls Saturday to build the two three-bedroom homes, only separated by an alley.

"I learned how to use a nail gun, a staple gun, how to line up the walls properly, how to get mud off of the chalk lines, all kinds of fun stuff,” said volunteer Molly Gordon.

For Kendra Seals, owning a home means achieving a lifetime goal. And she's not sitting back waiting for move in day.

"Just knowing I put my blood sweat and tears into this is really, really heartwarming,” said Seals. “I'm really, really excited."

She's also excited about her zero percent interest mortgage, thanks to Habitat for Humanity.

Seals and her three teenage boys expect to move in before Christmas.

"I stay in an apartment right now, so it's a little tight,” Seals stated. “This is gonna be a wonderful experience for me and my family."

Tang Mung and his family are also moving out of an apartment.

He moved to Tulsa five years ago from Burma. Now, his wife and five children will have more space.

We spoke to him in his future kitchen with help from a translator.

"Very exciting,” said Mung. “Very, very happy I'm here."

The new neighbors may have different paths to homeownership, but they have something in common.

"We both have teenagers so they can feel free to come over anytime and hang out," said Seals.

Each family will pick out their own furniture for their new homes.

Habitat for Humanity is working on a total of seven houses in the Kendall-Whittier area.
