It seems like it's a weekly occurrence, another game, another huge matchup in 6A-II. This one between Booker T. Washington and Sand Springs.

The Hornets are still kind of stinging from that loss to Muskogee a couple weeks ago. They want to get themselves back in the district race and show folks that they're for real.

"We really just like to take it one game at a time,” said BTW’s Mekhi Singleton. “We're obviously aware that with a win tomorrow night, it would pretty much put us in the driver's seat. But we just take it one game at a time and try to prepare for every game."

"Our kids are prepared for big games, so that kind of helps us in a sense of getting ready for a situation like this,” said Hornets Coach Brad Calip. “This right here is going to either make us or break us, so they know the value of winning this game."

On the other sideline, Sand Springs, who’s still basking in the glow of that improbable win last Thursday. But the team is aware there is still work to be done.

“We got that never quit attitude, and it showed again last Thursday,” said Sandites Coach Dustin Kinard. “It seems like when it's game time, we'll show up and compete."

Sand Springs receiver Kasey Bales added "We know Booker T's good. We know that, so we just have to play like we're playing just another tough team."

As for the Hornets' thoughts on the Sandites?

"They're another football team in 6A-II," said Singleton.

The matchup should be a good one.
