The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Broken Arrow woman hit an Oklahoma Highway Patrol SUV parked on the shoulder of the Turner Turnpike Thursday afternoon injuring a trooper.
The accident happened just before 4 p.m. on the eastbound side of the turnpike west of Wellston.
The OHP says trooper Charles Criddle was parked on the outside shoulder at mile marker 145, running radar checks on passing vehicles.
They said a 46-year-old Broken Arrow woman went off the road and struck his patrol SUV on the driver’s rear side. The woman’s car then re-entered the roadway, striking a passing pickup.
The female driver and a passenger in the pickup were both treated and released at an Oklahoma City hospital. Trooper Criddle suffered only minor injuries.
The OHP says the cause of the crash was distraction inside the vehicle.
