The League of Women Voters of Oklahoma wants people to think twice about State Question 776, the so called Death Penalty Question.

The measure would ensure executions resume in Oklahoma once questions over protocol are settled.

But critics say it is not needed in Oklahoma.

"We need to get the word out to vote no on 776 because it will waste tax payer dollars and at the end of the day we don't need the death penalty in our constitution. because the death penalty is not threatened," said Abraham Bonnowitz with Think Twice Oklahoma.

State Question 776 would give the state legislature, rather than the judicial system or the executive branch the authority to provide the method of administrating the death penalty.

It would also establish the death penalty as legal and as a right of state resident.
