Tulsa Police say they have two suspects in in the city's latest homicide.

They are Diter Westerheide and Fernando Ibarra, according to police.  Police say the two were taken into custody after a 21-year-old man was shot to death at close range near Pine and Utica just after 2 a.m. Sunday, October 23, 2016.

Officers say several calls came in about shots being fired in the area.

When officers first came out to respond to those calls, they couldn't find anything. Sergeant Dave Walker said the victim's mother called saying she found her son shot in the 1300 block of North Utica.

Police found the man's body lying outside a business. He had been shot several times including a shot to the head, Walker said.

They learned through witness interviews that the victim had a fight with the residents of a home about a block away in the 1300 block of North Troost.

"There was evidence that someone had fired an assault rifle at that location," Walker said in a news bulletin.

The two men that were questioned were located near the house, according to police. Police got a search warrant for the home and discovered additional evidence. Walker said they found assault rifles and other items stolen during a burglary in August.

"As of this writing detectives are typing additional search warrants in hopes to recovering more evidence," Walker said.

Police have not released the victim's name.

They ask anyone with information about Tulsa's 65th murder of 2016 to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS or the Homicide Tip Line at 918-798-8477.
